Company

Big River Race Management was founded in 2007 a year after its sister company Big River Running Company entered the St. Louis running market. After receiving request after request to help time and organize local road races, Big River owner Matt Helbig decided it was time to bring a more professional approach to event management. Big River started out small, helping local charities and race organizations time and manage about 20 events in its first year. In 2009, local race timing pioneer Tom Eckelman partnered with Big River bringing over 30 years of race management experience to the table. The obvious first step was to purchase a chip timing system and after much deliberation the two decided on ChronoTrack, the industry leader in timing endurance events.

Since then, Big River Race Management has added three full-time employees and a number of hands contracted out to help on the weekends, timing over 160 events and 115,000 participants in 2012, and providing race management to over half of those events. We know what it takes to put on a race. We have our own Big River Signature Events that we not only provide timing for, but also provide management, race organizaion, race planning, plus all the fundamental pieces to see a successful event start to finish (for more information about our signature events click here).

Staying on the cutting edge of technology, BRRM has adopted the ChronoTrack Live RaceCasting services which feature online registration, onsite registration, dynamic race check-in, mobile results, real-time online results, mobile and social media athlete updates, onsite results, athlete photography and athlete video and has led to timing contracts with such events as the USA Cross Country Championships, GO! St. Louis, Men's Health Urbanathlon, ZOOMA Women's Race Series, Kirkwood/Webster Turkey Day Run, Girls on the Run St. Louis, Bike MS and many more (for a more complete resume
