Road Racing Services

Big River Race Management offers two types of timing services for road racing, chip timing, the industry standard for events and pull-tag timing. BRRM reccommends chip timing for the majority of events due to the "net time" feture for participants, fast results processing and the state of the art features that can be associated only with chip timing. We additionally offer FAT photo-finish services upon request to 100% guarantee all finish times and places. Even races at the marathon distance often come down to a photo-finish with less than half a second separating first and second place.

Chip Timing

Our chip timing option features ChronoTrack equipment, the industry leader in timing for endurance events. The chip timing option allows you the availability for use of ChronoTrack Live which features online registration, on-site registration, dynamic race check-in, online real-time results, mobile results, mobile and social media athlete updates, athlete digital photography and athlete video. The timing is complete with RFID technology as well as disposable timing tags reducing the need for volunteers at the finish line to re-collect tags. We recommend this service to any event with greater than 250 participants or those wanting to utilize the ChronoTrack Live services. Pull-Tag Timing

With pull-tag timing, participants still receive an electronically recorded time (manually), however they will not receive an external timing chip and the time for all participants begins when the race starts, not when they cross the start line, thus not giving the participants their "net time" but rather a "gun time". Results take longer to be processed, additional volunteers are needed at the finish provided by the event and is generally a less expensive option. We recommend this service to events with under 250 participants. To read more about our pull-tag timing option click here.

Fully Automatic Timing

Our fully automatic timing option features FinishLynx photo finish cameras, the industry leader in timing for track and field events. We use these FinishLynx photo-finish cameras to determine the finish places and finish times for all of the running event competitors. FinishLynx photo-finish timing systems can capture high-speed results images at up to 10,000 frames per second, with accuracy to 1/1000th of a second. With the use of a digital start signal, and digitally captured finish times, we remove all chances for human error from the equation. The power and precision of FinishLynx technology has made it the gold standard for athletics results.
